SADKO

Russian Version | English Version | Sadko legend

T
he SADKO Russian folk music & dance ensemble was founded in 1991. It's composed of young professional musicians and ballet dancers. The idea of ensemble creation belonged to its founder and artistic director, Mikhail Seriy, who is also its General producer.

T
he orchestra comprises 16 musicians, it's an orchestra of soloists-instrumentalists. Five of them are winners and laureates of international musical competitions.

T
he sound of the orchestra, unique in Russia, is characterized by its own original touch as the leading instruments in the orchestra are string gusli, key gusli, variety of pump instruments, accordions, concertinas and typical folk Russian instruments - balalaikas and domras. All the musical instruments were made according to special order. Chime is also used in the musical program.

T
he conductor of the orchestra Vladimir Bogorad is the winner of four international competitions in Prague, Budapest, New York and St. Petersburg. The orchestra performs with the leading singers of Russia, well-known abroad as well.

T
he dance group of the ensemble consists of nine young dancers. The dances were produced and staged by the leading Russian choreographers - Y. Chivilgin and V. Plakhtiy.

A
ll ten years of the ensemble existence we have been working with only one costume artist, famous Vera Shcherbakova. Colors, design and character of the costumes correspond entirely to the music performed by the Orchestra and Russian folk dances character.

I
n spite of the fact that the first private Russian folk music & dance ensemble in the former Soviet Union is relatively young, its performances always attract wide attention of professional musicians and general public in Russia and abroad. The ensemble performed with great success in USA, Germany, Greece. SADKO CD can be bought only during the ensemble performances.
